May Prayer Topic

This month we would like all of us at St John's to remember Christian Aid week May 13-19th May 2018

From Christian Aid's website (

Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of their dignity and lets injustice thrive. But together we have the power to transform lives.

Thy Kingdom Come.

St. John the Baptist Church,

Heaton Mersey

May 14th  to May 20th

Church open Tuesday to Friday

10.00 - 2.00

Saturday 10.30 - 12.30

Thy Kingdom Come is a call to prayer for the sharing of the gospel from Ascension, May 10th, to Pentecost, May 20th.

Once again, the initiative is going world-wide, with most major denominations taking part.

In response to this invitation we are inviting you to join us in prayer over the week at a variety times, and praying  from different traditions.

St. John’s Church will be open daily from 14th to 20th May. You can call in between any of the times during the week and either join us in our short services of prayer, or simply wander round the various prayer stations or even just simply use the space for silent prayer and reflection. There will also be two short services on Tuesday and Thursday evening.

The prayer stations within the church will be available from the 30th May over the week. Please feel free to wander round he prayer stations at your own pace, engaging with what you find helpful.

In addition, Heaton Mersey Methodist Church will be holding a prayer time on Wednesday 9th May, to start the event, and a prayer walk around Heaton Mersey on Saturday 19th May starting at 10.30. (If it’s raining, this will be a virtual walk!)
